Meet the Coaches
Ed is a USAT Level I Certified Coach. He has been an assistant coach with Team-In-Training for eight years and has coached for both the Brooklyn Tri-Club and JackRabbit Sports. His need to train started very young at his neighborhood pool when he became hooked on swimming. He competed in swimming from childhood though college. While in college, he competed at the NCAA Division 1 level. After college, Ed kicked the training habit for a few years, but after completing his first tri, Ed had a relapse. The challenge, the people, and the satisfaction of achieving personal goals are what he loves most about the sport. Over the years, he has raced in over 30+ multi-sport events which have included three full Ironman, two National Open Water Championships in the 5k and 2 miler, an Ultra Marathon in places that have spanned the crystal clear waters of Cancun, the energy of NYC, the rolling mountains of Lake Placid NY, and the vineyards of California.
John is a USAT Level II Certified Coach and a degreed Engineer. Since 2004 he has prepared triathletes for all race formats from sprint to Iron distance, and worked with beginners and All-Americans. As a coach for the Brooklyn Tri Club, he coaches training camps and leads weekly brick workouts. John is the head swim coach for JackRabbit Sports in Brooklyn where he teaches beg/int/adv swim courses and leads open water swim workshops at Brighton Beach. He is the Asst. Varsity Swim Coach for The Berkeley Carroll School and coaches their masters swim program. For six years he has been the head triathlon coach for Team-In-Training in Brooklyn. John has competed in triathlon at a wide range of distances including Ironman.
Peter is a USAT Level I Certified Coach and swim specialist with considerable experience working with beginning & intermediate triathletes. Peter is a head coach with Team-In-Training coaching all three disciplines. He has also coached and developed swim programs for Jack Rabbit Sports for the past 2 years. Peter has competed in Sprint, Olympic, Half and Full Ironman distance triathlons for the past 9 race seasons where he consistently places in his division. Peter employs a friendly, supportive, and factual coaching style that motivates through humor and active demonstration.
Larry is a USAT Level I Certified Coach and has been practicing yoga since 1999. He attributes his athletic and durability success to the practice of yoga. He has participated in over 400 athletic events; including a ride across New York State in 1997. Competed in the Vermont 100 mile running road race in 2002. Also has finished 42 iron distance triathlons, a host of ultramarathons (18 consecutive JFK 50 milers), 87 marathons (33 consecutive NYC marathons). He retired from U. S. Customs & Border Protection as the Assistant Port Director, New York/Newark after 34 years. He has a daughter named Larissa that is also an accomplished Ironwoman that resides in Pasadena, California.
